1. What is Fiber to the Home and Business Technology?

Fiber-to-the-Home-and-Business (FTTH) Technology is the most advanced means to provide what is typically referred to as a "triple play" of communication services - cable TV, phone and high-speed Internet - directly to homes and businesses. There are no FTTH systems serving entire communities in Louisiana and very few in the U.S.

2. What will I receive with LUS Fiber?

LUS Fiber is currently developing the products it will be offering based on current technology and programming options. This development will be an on-going process as more advanced features and products become available. LUS Fiber will initially focus on providing the products currently offered by incumbent providers, such as cable TV, phone and high-speed Internet, but will also include new and emerging options that can only be made available through the major capabilities of a Fiber-to-the-Home-and-Business system. These new and emerging services include: more high definition channels, interactive applications, and a community-wide Intranet. In the future, LUS Fiber will place special emphasis on broadening local programming to our community.

3. How much will it cost?

LUS Fiber plans to offer triple play services at an average of 20% less than the standard prices of incumbent providers.

4. Do I have to take all the services?

Customers may choose which LUS Fiber services (if any) they wish to purchase; however, customers will receive the greatest value if they purchase all three services (cable TV, phone and Internet) from LUS Fiber.

5. Will I have to sign a contract?

No, customers will not be required to sign a contract.

6. When will LUS Fiber services first be available?

LUS Fiber expects to serve its first customer in early 2009.

7. When will LUS Fiber services be available to all customers?

LUS Fiber will further deploy its system so it is ready to serve the entire community by 2011.

8. What areas will be the first to receive LUS Fiber services?

The first area of deployment is being determined; and announcements will be made soon. Residents and businesses will receive mail notification as their respective areas are ready to be served.

9. Is my fiber service going to be overhead or underground?

In most cases, if power lines to your home are overhead, the fiber service to your home will be overhead. If the power line to your home is underground, your fiber drop will be underground. In all cases, the fiber service drops to your home will terminate in a special conversion module attached to your home that will house the necessary connections to accommodate your existing telephone and cable TV lines.

10. Will you be digging in my yard or put any equipment in my yard?

LUS Fiber will avoid disturbing yards as much as possible. In areas where lines must be placed underground, LUS Fiber will be digging in yards. Occasionally, there may be equipment in the utility easement but most of the fiber equipment will be contained in underground enclosures.

11. What equipment will be installed on my house? Will I have to rewire my house? What will that cost?

The fiber will connect to a special conversion module attached to your home that will house the necessary connections to accommodate your existing telephone and cable TV lines and be distributed using the existing wiring in your home, or with minimal rewiring. A standard service installation will be free.

12. Will my phone service still work if the power goes off?

The phone service delivered over the LUS Fiber system will rely on an LUS-installed battery backup adjacent to the special conversion module in the event of electric power failure. Your phone service will be available for emergency use while electric power is being restored.

13. Will my current phone still work on the new LUS Fiber system?

Yes, your existing phone will work on the LUS Fiber system. In addition, you will have the flexibility to use advanced phone products, such as an IP (Internet Protocol) phone.

14. Will I be able to call 911 on the new phone service?

Yes, you will be able to call 911 on the LUS Fiber system.

15. Will all LUS Fiber service charges be on the same bill as my current LUS utility bill?

No. Your LUS Fiber services (cable TV, phone and Internet) will be billed separately from your existing electricity, water and wastewater bill.

16. Will you serve apartments?

Yes, LUS Fiber plans to provide services to apartments once we have received permission from the respective apartment owners.

17. How can I let you know that I am interested in receiving LUS Fiber services?

You will be provided various opportunities to let us know your contact information so that LUS Fiber can notify you once its services are available to your home. Our web site will also have updates concerning the status of our fiber deployment and the LUS Fiber products that will be available to you.

18. What type of cable TV programming will be offered?

LUS Fiber cable TV programming will include local stations and locally produced programming plus the variety of programming expected from a cable TV provider.

19. Will I have the same phone options ( i.e., call waiting, three way, etc.)?

LUS Fiber will provide you with all of the advanced phone options available today. In the future, we will be able to provide new and emerging telephone features as they become available.

20. Will you offer Video On-Demand and Digital Video Recording options?
